Job Title: Data Governance Consultant
Duration: 12 Month Contract
Location: Des Moines, IA. (Local Candidates Only)
Position Overview:
As a Data Governance Consultant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, quality, and usability of data assets. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain data governance standards, policies, and processes that support organizational goals and drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Governance Framework Development:
Work with stakeholders to define and implement a robust data governance framework, addressing data quality, metadata management, master data management (MDM), and data privacy.
Data Quality Management:
Establish data quality standards, metrics, and monitoring processes to assess and improve the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across operational systems and workflows.
Metadata Management:
Develop and maintain metadata repositories and data dictionaries to catalog data assets, including attributes, classifications, and relationships, ensuring data lineage, traceability, and accessibility.
Data Privacy and Security:
Implement controls to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access, disclosure, and misuse, adhering to privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and company policies.
Data Governance Compliance:
Monitor adherence to internal policies, external regulations, and industry standards. Conduct audits and collaborate with stakeholders to address and resolve issues while mitigating risks.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with data domain teams, as well as groups in R&D, IT, and Commercial, to understand data requirements, align governance initiatives with business priorities, and promote stewardship best practices.
Change Management and Training:
Create and deliver training programs and communication materials to build awareness and adoption of governance standards. Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and accountability.
Qualifications:
β’ Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Information Science, or a related field.
β’ Minimum of 3 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles, preferably in agriculture or manufacturing.
β’ Strong understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and tools, with hands-on implementation experience.
β’ Proficiency in data quality assessment, metadata management, and data privacy/security practices.
β’ Familiarity with global supply chain operations and manufacturing processes is a plus.
β’ Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
β’ Willingness to work onsite at our headquarters in Johnston, Iowa, with occasional travel as needed.
