Role description
Data Governance Engineer β€’ Contract duration: 12months β€’ Location: On site in Wilmington, NC. β€’ Pay range: $60.00- $90.00 per hour/ W2. Please note, this contract does not include benefits. In this position, you will be responsible for practical implementation of data governance policies. You will be a subject matter expert who assist with managing and maintaining data, enforcing data quality, resolving data-related issues, ensure compliance with regulations. Primary conduit between the business, information management, information technology and engineering organizations. Key Responsibilities include: β€’ Help define data, create data dictionaries, and ensure the organizations metadata is well-maintained. β€’ Develop and maintain data governance policies and procedures. β€’ Facilitate metadata discovery and data cataloging efforts β€’ Build technical data dictionaries and support business glossaries to analyze the datasets β€’ Perform data profiling and data analysis for source systems, manually maintained data, machine generated data and target data repositories β€’ Develop and maintain data mapping specifications based on the results of data analysis and functional requirements β€’ Perform a variety of data loads & data transformations using multiple tools and technologies. β€’ Analyze reference datasets and familiarize with Master Data Management (MDM) tools. β€’ Analyze the impact of downstream systems and products β€’ Derive solutions and make recommendations from deep dive data analysis. β€’ Design and build Data Quality (DQ) rules needed Skills/ experience include: β€’ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Library Science or β€œSTEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with minimum years of experience 4 years β€’ Exposure with data management tools such as data catalogs, metadata management tools and databases β€’ Certification in data management or related areas (e.g. DMP, DM-BOK, etc.) β€’ Exposure to industry standard data catalog, automated data discovery and data lineage tools (e.g., Informatica, Alation, Collibra, TAMR etc.) β€’ Exposure to industry standard data modeling tools (e.g., ERWin, ER Studio, etc.). β€’ Exposure to Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) tools like Informatica or Talend β€’ Hands-on experience in writing SQL scripts for Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL or HiveQL β€’ US Citizenship required Desired skills include: β€’ Experience with Engineering, Procure and Construct Companies β€’ Experience with CFIHOS β€’ Experience with multiple Data Domains β€’ Leadership Skills: Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., UX, GE Business teams) and understand the inter-dependencies between them. β€’ Ability to showcase teamwork skills to achieve common goals, provide resolutions and share ideas. β€’ Demonstrate the presentation and influencing skills
