Data Governance Lead

Role: Data Governance Lead Location: United States (Remote) Job Type: Contract Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead to drive enterprise-wide data governance initiatives and ensure secure, compliant, and high-quality data management across cloud platforms. Strong hands-on experience with Unity Catalog is mandatory. The ideal candidate should be a strong communicator, stakeholder manager, and problem solver with the ability to lead cross-functional governance initiatives. Responsibilities • Lead enterprise data governance strategy, policies, and standards • Manage and implement Unity Catalog for centralized governance and access control • Drive data quality, metadata management, lineage, and cataloging initiatives • Partner with engineering, analytics, security, and business teams to enforce governance best practices • Define data stewardship and ownership frameworks • Ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive governance adoption and resolve challenges Required Qualifications • 8+ years of experience in Data Governance or Data Management • Strong hands-on experience with Unity Catalog (Mandatory) • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills • Experience with metadata management, data lineage, and data quality frameworks • Strong SQL and cloud platform knowledge (AWS/Azure/GCP) Preferred Skills • Databricks • Collibra / Alation • Informatica • Power BI / Tableau • AI/ML Governance Requirements Data Governance | Unity Catalog | Metadata Management | Data Lineage | Data Quality | SQL | Cloud Platforms | Problem Solving | Stakeholder Management | Communication Skills
