Role description
Title: Data Governance Lead
Location: NYC
Type: 6-month Contract
Rate: $90 per hour
MUST BE LOCAL CANDIDATES TO OFFICE LOCATION IN NYC
Must have their own laptop. Position will require the individual to work on site 4 days a week but will start remote until possibly the end of summer then they are on-site.
As a Data Governance Specialist, you will work closely with many teams across our company on implementation and oversight of enterprise data engagement and governance policy, goals, standards, practices, processes, and change management. You will work closely with Business and IT leadership to improve the quality and value of enterprise data assets, respond to regulatory requirements as well as support the strategic requirements of the organization
Play a key role in establishing an enterprise-wide data governance framework, with a focus on governing data as an enterprise asset, addressing regulatory requirement, and protection of sensitive data through organization behavior, policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, and related tools.
Support the mission and goals of the cross-functional Data Governance Council.
Lead the implementation of the data governance roadmap including the regulatory book of work.
Serve as a liaison between Business and Technology to ensure that data related business requirements for governing data are clearly defined, communicated, and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
Develop & maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners
Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise
Collaborate with business data stewards to foster a culture of data across the enterprise and implement various data projects
Institute and facilitate governance of the organization's business and technical metadata as well as data quality routines and frameworks.
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree required, MBA or other advanced degree preferred
Minimum 10 years of experience in Technology and/or Data Management in the Financial Services or Insurance industry with 5+ experience in establishing and executing data governance programs.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in enterprise data management, data governance practices, and data quality principles and methodologies.
Knowledge of data related regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
Experience with sensitive data and addressing laws around data privacy and security (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, FINRA, NY DFS) is desirable
Demonstrated experience in cross collaborating with multiple teams for change management, communications planning, and execution.
Ability to effectively challenge all levels of an organization and offer value-add solutions to meet data governance objectives. Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and people and relationships management is required.
Collaborative team player who is detailed oriented and focused on solution quality and execution.
Ability to work independently with some level of ambiguity and juggle multiple demands
