Title: Data Governance Lead Location: Torrance, CA Duration: 6-month contract JOB DESCRIPTION A customer within the automotive industry is looking for a Data Governance Lead to join their team in Torrance, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive data governance strategy that ensures data quality, security, compliance, and usability across the organization. You’ll work closely with both technical and business teams to establish clear data ownership, stewardship, and governance practices. This role is pivotal in building trust in data by defining standards for data quality, metadata, lineage, and compliance, while promoting a culture of accountability and data literacy. You’ll lead cross-functional initiatives to align governance with business goals, support regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and ensure consistent, ethical use of data throughout the enterprise. MUST HAVES 15+ years of experience in data governance Hands-on experience with defining data governance frameworks and catalogs Deep knowledge of data quality and compliance requirements Expertise in building catalog user journey dashboards Past experience working with data stewards and catalog engineers Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra). Strong understanding of data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and ETL/ELT pipelines. Past experience working in AWS Familiarity with streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis) and real-time data processing PLUSSES Background in supporting AI/ML data solutions
