Data Governance Manager

Job Title: Data Governance Consultant (Monte Carlo) Location: Remote (Limited Travel on Milestone Basis) Client: Birlasoft Job Type: Contract Job Description Birlasoft is seeking a seasoned Data Governance Consultant with hands-on experience in the Monte Carlo Data Observability platform. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of data governance principles, data quality management, and metadata strategy to support enterprise-level data governance initiatives. This is a remote position with limited travel required during key project milestones. Key Responsibilities • Serve as the subject matter expert for Monte Carlo Data Observability implementation and integration within enterprise data ecosystems. • Define and execute data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures in alignment with business and regulatory requirements. • Configure and operationalize Monte Carlo features such as anomaly detection, incident resolution workflows, and data reliability dashboards. • Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to ensure data quality, lineage, and integrity across systems. • Develop and implement monitoring strategies using Monte Carlo for critical data pipelines and warehouse environments (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery). • Drive adoption and training of data governance practices across stakeholders including IT, compliance, and business units. • Conduct impact assessments, root cause analysis, and remediation plans for data quality incidents. • Support the development of metadata management, data cataloging, and data stewardship capabilities. • Create and maintain documentation for data governance standards, processes, and Monte Carlo configurations. • Provide executive-level reporting and KPIs on data quality, coverage, and observability outcomes. Required Qualifications • 10+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or data management roles. • Hands-on experience with the Monte Carlo Data Observability platform in a production environment. • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK), data lineage, data profiling, and compliance standards. • Proficiency in working with modern data platforms and cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift). • Experience with data cataloging tools (e.g., Alation, Collibra, Informatica) is a plus. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. • Proven ability to work remotely and manage deliverables independently. • Prior consulting experience or experience working with enterprise clients is strongly preferred. Preferred Skills • Exposure to data observability tooling ecosystems (e.g., Bigeye, Databand, Acceldata). • Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration tools like Airflow or dbt. • Experience with data governance in regulated environments (e.g., financial services, healthcare). • Ability to interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively. Travel Requirements • This is a remote role with limited travel required for key project milestones and client workshops.
