Job Title: Data Governance & MDM Specialist

Job Summary:
The Data Governance & MDM Specialist will lead the development of metadata management, lineage tracking, and master data practices for the Stateβs enterprise data systems. The specialist will ensure data quality, consistency, and policy compliance in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Develop and implement standards for metadata cataloging, data lineage, and governance
β’ Support enterprise MDM strategy and contribute to the design of master data models
β’ Partner with the Lead Architect to embed governance practices into architecture frameworks
β’ Ensure data classification, quality, and compliance processes are followed across data sources
β’ Prepare documentation for data governance workflows and controls
β’ Collaborate with business analysts and technical teams to implement governance tools
Minimum Qualifications:
β’ 5+ years of experience in data governance, metadata management, or MDM implementation
β’ Proven experience delivering governance or MDM programs for a State government agency or similar public-sector body
β’ Strong understanding of data privacy, lineage, stewardship, and compliance frameworks
β’ Hands-on experience with metadata cataloging tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica)
β’ Familiarity with governance standards such as DAMA-DMBOK
Preferred:
β’ Prior engagement with Missouri ITSD or similar state data governance programs
β’ Certification in data governance or MDM platforms
β’ Experience with cloud-native governance tools (e.g., Azure Purview, AWS Glue Data Catalog)
