Data Governance SME Location- Hybrid in New York Or Chicago Long term Contract JD- We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Data Governance Specialist to lead the development and implementation of data governance frameworks across our organization. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in either Data Management or Engineering, and who thrive in cross-functional environments. Experience in the Energy sector is a significant plus. Key Responsibilities: β€’ Design, develop, and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures. β€’ Collaborate with data and engineering teams to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance. β€’ Establish data ownership and stewardship models across business units. β€’ Define and maintain metadata standards and data lineage documentation. β€’ Support data classification, access controls, and privacy initiatives. β€’ Conduct gap analyses and recommend improvements to existing data governance practices. β€’ Provide training and guidance to stakeholders on data governance principles. Qualifications: β€’ 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or engineering roles. β€’ Proven track record of implementing enterprise-level data governance frameworks. β€’ Strong understanding of data architecture, metadata management, and data lifecycle. β€’ Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and compliance standards. β€’ Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. β€’ Preferred: Experience in the Energy industry, with knowledge of sector-specific data challenges.
