Role description
My client is seeking a highly experienced Data Leader (VP/AVP/Director level) for a prestigious contract role based in London.
This is a unique opportunity within the Insurance sector, specifically in the Lloyd’s of London market, where data strategy and governance are central to enterprise transformation and regulatory success.
The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of strategic data programmes, ensuring projects meet defined scope, budget, and quality standards. This leadership role requires working closely with Data Governance, Business stakeholders, and senior executives to drive a roadmap of change that aligns with both corporate and regulatory objectives. You will monitor delivery progress, address risks, and provide regular updates to senior management, ensuring transparency and alignment with wider organisational goals.
A critical focus of the role is leveraging modern data technologies, particularly Snowflake, alongside relational platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. Proficiency with tools including Python and PowerBI is also required. You will oversee resourcing, manage vendor relationships, monitor the Software Development Lifecycle, and ensure high-quality technical support for data-related technologies. Additionally, you will prepare business cases, evaluate emerging solutions, and ensure deliveries remain aligned with the long-term strategy of the Insurance market.
Proven experience within Insurance/Reinsurance, and deep knowledge of the Lloyd’s of London marketplace, are mandatory. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication, strategic decision-making, and a track record of delivering complex data initiatives in regulated financial environments. This is a chance to shape the future of data in one of the world’s most important financial markets, driving transformation through innovation and effective data management.
