Role description
DATA MANAGEMENT ARCHITECT (LEVEL II) – ALBANY, NEW YORK Our client, the New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS), is seeking a Data Management (DM) Architect (Level II) for an 18-month contract position based onsite at 40 N. Pearl Street. The engagement will run from October 18, 2025 through April 17, 2027. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing Data Management solutions, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and governance while supporting modernization initiatives across New York State Health and Human Services programs. Note: At this time we are unable to consider third-party candidates or those requiring sponsorship.US citizenship is required. What You’ll Do Design and implement scalable Data Management (DM) solutions, including data modeling, data quality, governance, and integration strategies. Lead the definition and implementation of DM architecture principles and design patterns, enabling smooth data publishing and subscribing across applications. Utilize programming languages (Python, R, SQL) for data manipulation, analysis, and automation. Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Informatica. Build and deploy Data Management solutions and integrations on cloud platforms including AWS and GCP. Analyze existing DM architectures and develop roadmaps for optimization. Research emerging DM trends and refine technology strategy. Act as a business analyst by gathering requirements, conducting fit-gap analysis, and preparing documentation. Identify automation opportunities in data conversion and integration processes to improve efficiency. Ensure adherence to data governance policies and security measures. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and resolve issues. What You’ll Bring 12+ years of IT experience. 4–7 years of experience as an Architect (Level II). 4–7 years of experience in Data Management architecture, data modeling, governance, and data quality. 4–7 years of proficiency in reporting, visualization, dashboarding, data warehousing, and analytics. Bonus Points For Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. 4–7 years of experience building and deploying solutions on AWS and GCP, including relevant cloud services. 4–7 years of experience building data warehouses, reporting, and analytics. 2–3 years of experience with Python, SQL, API, and Webservices for data integration. 2–3 years of experience conducting fit-gap analysis, documenting requirements, and facilitating workshops. 2–3 years of experience identifying and implementing automation for process improvement. 3–5 years of experience working in a federal or state government setting.
