Role description
Job Title: Data Manager
Location: Providence, RI – Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Duration: 6 Month Contract – Extensions Possible
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee collection, validation, and submission of EMS patient care data in compliance with NEMSIS standards.
• Maintain data integrity, completeness, and security in accordance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
• Serve as the system administrator for the state EMS electronic patient care reporting system.
• Provide data-related continuous quality improvement feedback to licensed EMS agencies.
• Provide technical assistance to municipal agencies utilizing the EMS Information System.
• Assist with data collection, outcome tracking, and other grant reporting metrics as needed.
• Provide data visualization and presentation of analytical findings to stakeholders and partners.
• To do related work as required.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
• Knowledge of public health practice, community engagement principles, social and economic determinants of health, and principles of health and racial equity.
• Knowledge of and experience in public health programming and policy at the local and national levels in relation to data management.
• Ability to manage time and multiple simultaneous tasks effectively and meet multiple competing deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, associates, subordinates, public groups, and private and public agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to work with people and groups from a wide variety of backgrounds and across differences in race, culture, nationality, age, gender, sexual orientation, values, beliefs, learning styles, and literacy levels.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as public speaking skills.
Preferred Skills/knowledge (not required):
• EMS background or licensure as an EMS practitioner
• Familiarity with EMS-specific data systems such as ImageTrend LLC, Biospatial, NEMSIS, and NERIS.
Education:
• A master’s degree in public health, health administration, mathematics, economics, information management, statistics, or a closely related field.
• A bachelor’s degree in public health, health administration, mathematics, economics, information management, statistics, or a closely related field, and experience working in a data management or analyst position.
