Work you'll do
The services You will provide the Deloitte project team: As a Database Engineer Contractor, you will design, develop, and optimize database systems to support data storage, retrieval, and analysis. Design and construct large relational databases to meet project requirements. Develop and maintain ETL processes to integrate new systems with existing data warehouse structures. Optimize database performance by refining system functionality and ensuring efficient data retrieval. Implement and enforce database security measures to protect data integrity and confidentiality. Perform regular data validation and quality checks to ensure database accuracy and reliability.
β’ End-to-end database migration projects including DB2 z/OS/VSAM to DB2 LUW, DB2 to cloud-hosted databases (e.g., Db2 on Cloud, Db2 Warehouse), and cross-platform migrations
β’ Assess source database environments, catalog dependencies, and develop comprehensive migration plans with risk mitigation strategies
β’ Execute schema conversion, data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) AWS glue or any equivalent tools
β’ Validate data integrity, application compatibility, and performance benchmarks pre- and post-migration
β’ Scheduling and monitoring jobs using control-M
Required Qualifications
β’ 8+ years of hands-on experience administering IBM DB2 databases in enterprise environments
β’ Strong expertise in DB2 for z/OS (including utilities such as REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, RECOVER, LOAD, and UNLOAD)
β’ Experience with automation and scripting using Python, Shell/Bash for DB2 operations
β’ Demonstrated experience with DB2 LUW administration on Linux and/or AIX platforms
β’ Proven track record of leading successful large-scale DB2/VSAM migration or upgrade projects
β’ Proficiency in SQL tuning, EXPLAIN analysis, access path optimization, and performance diagnostics
β’ Experience with DB2 high availability and disaster recovery solutions (HADR)
β’ Working knowledge of JCL, REXX, and TSO/ISPF in mainframe environments
β’ Familiarity with IBM Data Studio or any IBM Db2 Administration Tool
The expected pay range for this contract assignment is $100- $110 per hour.β― The exact pay rate will vary based on skills, experience, and location and will be determined by the third-party whose employees provide services to Deloitte.
