Job Title: Data Modeler 1 - (SCADA) Job Number: 11752 Location: Spokane, WA Hybrid: onsite 3 days per wk – maybe up to 5 days on site as needed during training period Length: Initial 12 month duration – potential for extensions for up to 5 years MUST be US Citizen to be eligible to apply for Federal Background Check SUMMARY This contract Data Modeler position will provide support to the Energy Management Systems (EMS) organization in maintaining accurate and up-to-date EMS databases and displays. Energy Management Systems (EMS) are used by Dispatchers to monitor, control, and optimize the power grid. This position will support the operations and maintenance of EMS Habitat systems hosted on the core Control Center Network (CCN) and the CCN DMZ. This position will perform EMS Habitat system data modeling, display modeling, database updates, providing customer coordination, facilitating custom software scripts, and maintaining quality documentation. This position will interact cooperatively with: System Dispatchers, Data Systems Hardware (including the Network Systems Operations Center, hardware design and maintenance, Power Systems Communications), T&E Maintenance, and Technical Operations, among others POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES β€’ Implement changes according to defined timelines in the modeling of Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) data in the SCADAMOM database, substation interconnections in the NETMOM database, and of Inter-Control Center Communications Protocol (ICCP) data in the OAGMOM database. β€’ Validate models, including interdependence between the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Network models critical to the safety and reliability of the power grid. β€’ Develop and maintain user-interface displays in accordance with dispatcher specifications, including one-line diagrams, Intertie Protection Scheme (IPS) and Remedial Action Scheme (RAS) displays and tabular displays. β€’ Provide support for the bi-weekly deployment of updated EMS databases and displays to the operational systems β€’ Develop and maintain documentation related to all EMS database and display maintenance and troubleshooting β€’ Collaborate with EMS teams to develop modeling and user display standards to promote reliability and consistency. REQUIREMENTS Education & Experience: β€’ Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer/Information Technology or a closely-related technical discipline is preferred: β€’ 1 year of experience is required with an applicable Bachelor’s Degree. β€’ 3 years of experience is required with an applicable Associate’s Degree. β€’ 5 years of experience is required without a degree or applicable degree. β€’ Experience should include working with logical data models, not just physical/DBA experience Required Technical Skills & Experience β€’ 1 year of experience directly supporting the development and maintenance of GE-Alstom e-terraHabitat hierarchical databases and displays, OR β€’ 2 years of experience directly supporting database modeling in a science/engineering organization Preferred Skills & Experience β€’ 1 year of hands-on experience working with hierarchical databases in GE-Alstom products to model power grid information for use in a control center environment. β€’ Experience conducting data modeling sessions with business users and technical staff, which includes conveying complex ideas both verbally and in written form. β€’ Experience using JIRA for work tracking. β€’ Knowledge of and understanding of database management system administration with regard to performance, configuration and denormalization. β€’ Experience leading efforts to verify system test data is loaded accurately and in timely manner. β€’ Knowledge of GE-Alstom e-terraHabitat databases and displays. β€’ Knowledge of NERC-CIP and FISMA requirements. β€’ Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio Pre-Employment Requirement All employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of our pre-employment screening that may include drug testing, background/criminal check, and if applicable, must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
