Role description
We are seeking a Senior Healthcare Data Modeler to design and implement enterprise-level data models across payer, provider, and government healthcare domains. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between complex clinical data, compliance mandates, and cloud-based analytics platforms.
Core Responsibilities
• Data Modeling: Design, build, and customize 3rd Normal Form (3NF) normalized enterprise models and Star Schema dimensional models for complex healthcare business functions.
• Healthcare Integration: Map and transform standard medical coding systems, interoperability layers, and transaction formats, specifically HL7 FHIR, HL7 V2, and X12 5010 EDI (claims, remittance, pharmacy).
• Regulatory & Analytics Support: Build data schemas that support CMS compliance (such as Price Transparency regulations), Value-Based Healthcare (Medicare Advantage, ACOs), and analytical tracking (Medicare Stars metrics).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Translate intricate healthcare requirements into technical data schemas by interfacing directly with clinical, pharmacy management, financial, and data engineering teams.
Technical & Required Skills
• Data Modeling Tools: Expert-level proficiency in Erwin Data Modeler, MySQL Workbench, or DbSchema.
• Database Ecosystems: Extensive experience working with major enterprise and cloud data platforms, specifically Snowflake, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Azure Synapse or Teradata.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Practical familiarity with cloud data pipelines and utilities within AWS (AWS Glue, AWS Batch, CloudWatch) and/or MS Azure.
• Languages & Tooling: Strong proficiency in SQL, DDL, JSON, XML, and version control tools like Git and JIRA.
Qualifications
• Deep domain expertise across provider patient care, billing, payer claims, and government healthcare programs.
• Proven track record of deploying data models in Agile/SAFe environments.
• An educational background in Business/Accounting (e.g., MBA or equivalent) paired with heavy IT infrastructure experience is a major plus.
