Role description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Data Modeler to join our team and play a key role in shaping the data architecture that drives business intelligence and decision-making. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in OLTP, multidimensional modeling, star schema design, and enterprise data modeling best practices. This position will be instrumental in building scalable, well-structured transactional data models that support analytics, reporting, and data governance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop, and maintain multidimensional data models using the Kimball methodology to support enterprise-level business intelligence solutions.
β’ Build and optimize large star schemas with atomic-level fact tables to enable high-performance querying and analytics.
β’ Perform third normal form (3NF) modeling for operational data stores and source systems.
β’ Define clear and concise business definitions for data elements and ensure consistency across data dictionaries and metadata repositories.
β’ Develop and maintain detailed source-to-target data mappings, ensuring data lineage, traceability, and transformation logic are well documented.
β’ Abstract and simplify complex data concepts into understandable and reusable models for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Collaborate with Data Governance and MDM teams to manage metadata, master data, and reference data across systems.
β’ Use tools such as ER/Studio or ERWin to design, document, and publish data models for consumption across the enterprise.
β’ Work cross-functionally with data architects, engineers, analysts, and business teams to ensure alignment between data models and business needs.
Required Qualifications
β’ 5+ years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, or related data management roles.
β’ Strong expertise in dimensional modeling using the Kimball approach, including the design of star and snowflake schemas.
β’ Demonstrated experience with 3NF modeling in transactional or operational systems.
β’ Proficiency in modeling tools such as ERStudio or ERWin.
β’ Proven ability to write technical documentation, including data definitions and mappings.
β’ Exceptional analytical and abstract thinking skills to model complex business domains.
β’ Experience with MDM, metadata, and reference data management.
β’ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain data modeling concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
