Role description
e&e is seeking a Data Modeler for a hybrid contract opportunity in Harrisburg, PA!
The Data Modeler will serve as a senior technical resource supporting enterprise data warehouse modernization initiatives. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining logical and physical data models, creating centralized data frameworks, and supporting advanced analytics and reporting needs. The Data Modeler will collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and development teams to ensure the delivery of optimized, scalable, and secure data solutions leveraging Microsoft Azure technologies such as Databricks, Delta Lake, and Synapse.
Responsibilities:
β’ Design, develop, and implement data models and data lake architectures for enterprise-scale data warehouse modernization.
β’ Conduct data profiling, analysis, and validation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality of models.
β’ Create and maintain logical and physical data models, metadata repositories, and data dictionaries.
β’ Translate business requirements into optimized database solutions, data flows, and information domain models.
β’ Develop SQL Server database solutions including stored procedures, complex queries, and ELT processes.
β’ Support and enhance existing and new data warehouse initiatives, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance standards.
β’ Collaborate with business analysts, developers, DBAs, and program area stakeholders to align solutions with organizational objectives.
β’ Evaluate existing systems and recommend improvements to enhance performance, scalability, and data integrity.
β’ Manage assignments, track progress, and provide project updates and documentation through established project management tools.
β’ Participate in requirements gathering, testing, quality reviews, and knowledge transfer activities.
β’ Provide presentations, training sessions, and technical guidance to teams and stakeholders.
β’ Ensure data security, compliance, and adherence to federal and state standards for data governance.
Requirements:
β’ Advanced expertise in data analysis, data profiling, and database design.
β’ Hands-on experience with logical and physical data modeling tools (e.g., ErWin or equivalent).
β’ Strong proficiency in SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, ELT processes, scripts, and stored procedures.
β’ Proven experience managing metadata, data dictionaries, and technical documentation.
β’ Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services, including Databricks, Delta Lake, Synapse, and Python.
β’ Familiarity with relational databases, star schema, facts, and dimensions.
β’ Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps.
β’ Demonstrated ability to audit databases, maintain data quality, and implement secure systems.
β’ Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data concepts to diverse audiences.
β’ Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced study preferred.
β’ 10+ years of relevant experience in data modeling and data architecture.
Preferred Experience:
β’ Experience working in the public health or healthcare industry with large and diverse health datasets.
β’ Familiarity with government or regulated industry data governance standards and compliance requirements.
