Are you a CILEX Advanced Paralegal experienced in Data Protection and Freedom of Information looking for an exciting new opportunity within a dynamic legal team? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Senior Paralegal to support the Principal Lawyer in delivering high-quality data
protection and freedom of information services to the organisation.
About The Role
As a Senior Paralegal, you will be responsible for:
β’ Assisting with the management and handling of data protection requests, including subject access requests.
β’ Supporting the Principal Lawyer in ensuring compliance with data protection legislation and providing advice to services on data protection issues.
β’ Managing freedom of information requests, including processing, responding, and advising on appropriate exemptions.
β’ Conducting reviews and appeals to the Information Commissioner&Β©s Office.
β’ Maintaining accurate records and databases related to data protection and freedom of information.
β’ Providing administrative support, such as drafting correspondence and preparing reports.
β’ Collaborating with other teams and departments to ensure effective information governance.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
β’ Significant experience working in a similar role, with a solid understanding of data protection and freedom of information legislation.
β’ Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise effectively.
β’ Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling requests and maintaining records.
β’ Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
β’ Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and demonstrate initiative in problem-solving.
β’ Knowledge of information governance principles and practices.
Please note this role is fixed term until 31/05/26 $ΓΊ Maternity cover.
