The Role We are currently supporting a leading capital markets firm in London with the hire of a Data / Software Engineers to join their regulatory reporting technology team on a contract basis. This is a hands-on software development role within regulatory reporting, focused on building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and controls that support EMEA transaction reporting obligations. You will be working in a fast-paced engineering environment, supporting critical regulatory reporting systems and large-scale financial data processing. Key Responsibilities ร‚ยท Design, build, and maintain Python-based data pipelines supporting EMEA regulatory transaction reporting (e.g. MiFID II, EMIR, SFTR) ร‚ยท Develop and enhance scalable ETL/ELT workflows using Apache Airflow ร‚ยท Work with large-scale financial datasets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of regulatory submissions ร‚ยท Build automated data quality checks, controls, and reconciliation frameworks ร‚ยท Develop and optimise SQL queries and data models (including BigQuery environments) ร‚ยท Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, data, and regulatory reporting teams ร‚ยท Contribute to software engineering best practices including testing, code reviews, and CI/CD processes Key Skills & Experience ร‚ยท Strong Python development experience (production-grade engineering, not scripting) ร‚ยท Solid experience with SQL and relational data modelling ร‚ยท Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow (building and maintaining DAGs) ร‚ยท Experience working with large-scale data processing systems ร‚ยท Familiarity with SQLAlchemy and/or BigQuery ร‚ยท Strong understanding of capital markets products and trade lifecycle ร‚ยท Exposure to EMEA regulatory transaction reporting regimes (MiFID II, EMIR, SFTR, FCA reporting, etc.) ร‚ยท Experience with Git and version control workflows ร‚ยท Experience writing unit tests (e.g. pytest) and working in CI/CD environments
