Role description
Data & Reporting Product Owner Location: Hybrid / Remote (UK) Employment Type: Full-time (inside IR35 6 months) About the Role: We’re looking for a Data & Reporting Product Owner to lead the delivery of data, reporting, and merchant onboarding initiatives across our payments products. This role is all about turning vision into reality — you’ll shape and deliver a roadmap that drives data warehouse enhancements, customer and internal reporting tools, onboarding experiences, and product scalability. You’ll collaborate closely with Product Managers, Developers, and UI/UX teams to bring ideas to life, ensuring our data solutions are robust, insightful, and truly valuable to both customers and internal users. What You’ll Do: • Own the Data, Reporting & Onboarding Roadmap — translate strategic goals into actionable delivery plans. • Define and Communicate Requirements — gather needs from stakeholders, write clear user stories, and craft acceptance criteria that guide development. • Create Clarity — use process flows, wireframes, and supporting documentation to simplify complex requirements for teams and partners. • Manage Delivery Artefacts — ensure stories, epics, and acceptance criteria are well-documented and traceable through testing and delivery. • Be the Trusted Expert — act as a consultative partner to stakeholders, advising on priorities and ensuring solutions deliver measurable value. • Collaborate Across Functions — work with Architecture, Operations, and Risk to define and deliver non-functional and operational requirements. • Enable High-Performing Teams — partner with developers and third parties to clarify requirements and keep projects moving confidently. • Prioritise with Purpose — refine and manage backlogs for data, reporting, analytics, and onboarding initiatives. • Champion Quality — validate that delivered features are accurate, reliable, and user-friendly. • Lead Releases — coordinate go-to-market activities for smooth, successful feature launches. • Drive Continuous Improvement — integrate feedback from customers and internal teams into future releases. • Stay Ahead of the Curve — keep an eye on market and competitor trends within payments to inform roadmap evolution. What You’ll Bring: • Proven experience as a Product Owner in a data-driven, fintech, or software delivery environment. • Strong understanding of visualisation and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Quick Suite). • Solid grasp of payment flows and the ecosystem of gateways, acquirers, and processors. • Understanding of the merchant onboarding journey and customer experience. • Skilled in writing user stories, managing backlogs, and working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Comfortable using wireframing or prototyping tools to communicate ideas. • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a results-driven mindset. • Experience working with third-party vendors or partners to deliver integrated solutions. Bonus Points For: • Experience with API-based or data integration products. • Familiarity with data warehousing, SQL, ETL/ELT, or data modelling. • Understanding of data governance, compliance, and PCI-DSS standards. • Exposure to embeddable components or modular architectures. • Hands-on experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum or Kanban). Who You Are: • A clear, concise communicator — written and verbal. • A self-starter who thrives with autonomy and takes ownership. • Highly organised and comfortable managing multiple workstreams. • Naturally curious and eager to learn how things work. • Collaborative, persuasive, and focused on achieving the best outcomes. • A strong storyteller who can make complex concepts simple and compelling. Why Join Us: You’ll be joining a forward-thinking payments business at a time of rapid innovation. Your work will directly influence how customers interact with our products — shaping meaningful data insights, smooth onboarding experiences, and scalable reporting solutions that drive our success.
