Data Science Analyst

Data Science Analyst The Sage Group’s client is seeking a Data Science Analyst. This need is to support the development of an AI-ready semantic layer for POS, retailer, and syndicated data. This role will help transform raw business data into structured, contextualized, and machine-readable assets that power Generative AI across the organization. Key Responsibilities • Build and maintain semantic models for products, brands, categories, retailers, channels, and business metrics. • Develop metadata, business glossaries, and knowledge repositories that enable AI systems to understand CPG data and terminology. • Write Python and SQL code to automate data mapping, tagging, classification, and semantic enrichment to support natural language query capabilities. • Translate POS data and business concepts into machine-readable definitions. • Contribute to data governance, quality, and documentation standards that support enterprise AI applications. • Partner with data, analytics, and business stakeholders to improve semantic consistency and data usability across teams. • Support the ongoing enhancement of semantic and metric layers used for analytics and AI-driven use cases. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, or a related field. • 3+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, semantic modeling, or related data-focused work. • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL. • Familiarity with Azure cloud data platform. • Understanding of dimensional data modeling and interest in semantic or graph-based data structures. • Exposure to semantic and metric layers and familiarity with Generative AI concepts. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications • Experience working with POS, retailer, syndicated, or other CPG-related data sets. • Experience creating business glossaries, metadata frameworks, or knowledge repositories. • Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and business stakeholders. • Experience supporting AI-ready data environments or natural language query use cases. Duration: 6 months (end of 2026) Location: Remote (US) Compensation: $70-75/Hour (DOE)
