Role description
LEAD TRAINER DATA SCIENCE The Institute of Data is an online bootcamp with a network of experienced Data Scientists, Cyber Security Analysts, and Software Engineers teaching their courses. In partnership with universities in the US, we transform careers for a data-driven world through practical, industry-focused courses. About the role: We are seeking a Lead Trainer in Data Science to lead this course for our students. We offer courses outside of business hours in conjunction with University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Virginia Commonwealth University and University of Louisiana at Lafayette several other universities in the US and globally. All applicants must be US Residents and be able to work the following schedule in PST Time zone. The next opportunity is: Remote in partnership with UNLV - October 27th, 2025 to April 25th 2026. Monday & Wednesday 6pm-9pm PST and every other Saturday from 9am-5pm PSTThis classroom will be 100% remote. All applicants must have access to a reliable wifi connection and have a webcam accessible for teaching via Zoom. The content is provided and covers mathematics, statistics, programming, data analysis, machine learning and AI techniques, and how they are applied to businesses and government organizations. Assessment is in the form of labs and project work. Students graduating from the course are well-equipped to take on junior data analyst roles. Deliver curriculum and support students to enter the industryProvide meaningful and prompt feedback on their progressGuide students through the development of real-world projects that will showcase their abilities to hiring managersFacilitate a dynamic and collaborative classroom community Inspire students to persevere through the challenges of learning complex subjects. Requirements:Bachelors in Computer Science, Science, Mathematics or related degreeMinimum 5 years of professional data science experience.Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to passionately express technical material in an accessible way to students.Desire to help others learn and grow and be comfortable in a classroom environment.Experience with Zoom and Google Classroom preferred. Expert in SQL, Python, and related Python libraries (Pandas, Numpy).Domain expertise in statistics, mathematics, and probability.Ability to build and apply statistical models in python using machine learning libraries, such as scikit-learn and stats models.Deep understanding of statistical hypothesis testing and experimental design, data visualization techniques and tools (i.e. matplotlib, bokeh, etc), and manipulation of large data sets.Demonstrate and explain the function of machine learning algorithms such as regularized regression, naive bayes, decision trees, ensemble methods, KNN, K-means clustering, and neural networks.Keep yourself actively engaged in the the current world of tech and stay updated on tech news.
