Data Science Optimization Contractor

Position Summary Contractor Remote (Dallas Preferred) Work you'll do We are seeking a Data science optimization contractor to provide technical expertise in the design, development, implementation, and support of engineering and optimization solutions. This role will focus on solving complex business problems through mathematical optimization, rapid proof-of-concept development, cloud-based deployment, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with Gurobi, AWS cloud infrastructure, system integration, troubleshooting, and technical documentation. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and implement technical solutions to address complex engineering and business challenges. • Build optimization models and algorithms using Gurobi to solve large-scale, complex business problems. • Formulate optimization problems clearly and accurately, and rapidly develop proof-of-concept (POC) models to validate solution approaches. • Deploy, manage, and monitor optimization workloads on AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency. • Conduct system integration, testing, and validation to ensure the performance, accuracy, and reliability of technical solutions. • Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into effective optimization solutions. • Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams throughout the solution lifecycle. • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to maintain system functionality and performance. • Document technical specifications, development processes, and operating procedures for future reference, knowledge transfer, and compliance. Required Qualifications • Experience designing and developing technical or engineering solutions in a professional environment. • Hands-on experience with Gurobi for optimization modeling and algorithm development. • Strong understanding of mathematical optimization, model formulation, and solution validation. • Experience deploying and managing applications or workloads in AWS. • Ability to perform system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and technical issue resolution. • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across technical and business teams. • Experience creating clear technical documentation, specifications, and procedures. Preferred Qualifications • Experience working with data scientists and software engineers in solution development. • Familiarity with scalable cloud architecture and cost-efficient workload management. • Experience supporting production-grade optimization or decision-support solutions. The expected pay range for this contract assignment is $75 - $85 per hour.  The exact pay rate will vary based on skills, experience, and location and will be determined by the third-party whose employees provide services to Deloitte.
