Role description
Lumark Technologies, Inc. (www.lumark.com), founded in 1999, is a mature small business that provides services to Defense, Federal and Commercial clients. Lumark has an exciting job opportunity for a Data Scientist to join our team in support of the U.S. Military remotely β this is an IMMEDIATE OPENING on an ACTIVE CONTRACT.
Duties
β’ Responsible for extracting insights and building predictive models from data.
β’ Looks into problem areas and architecting solution designs.
β’ Analyzes curated data, builds ML models, and validates them with experiments. Specifically, the DS will research and define business problems and translate them into analytical/machine learning tasks.
β’ Conducts exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify patterns, correlations, and anomalies, from which the DS will design, train, and evaluate statistical, ML, or AI models.
β’ Coordinates with Subject Matter Experts to determine use cases, model requirements and recommending alternative solutions.
β’ Defines and develops system requirements and program specifications from which Data Specialists prepare detailed data dictionaries, data flows, interfaces, and tests.
β’ Coordinates closely with Data Engineers and the customer to ensure proper implementation of specifications.
Qualifications
β’ U.S. Citizenship
β’ Currently hold or have recently held at minimum a DoD SECRET Clearance. An active Top Secret clearance is preferred.
β’ Must currently reside in or near Fairfax, VA and be able to commute to the work location.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Business, or Economics or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 7+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and configuring mathematical and statistical models.
β’ Strong Experience with Statistics, Python/R-Language, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn, Jyputer Notebook, data visualization, business domain knowledge, experimentation (A/B testing).
β’ SQL language for either Oracle, MySQL or Hive
β’ Experience or working knowledge of Oracle DB and Big Data (Hadoop)
β’ Ability to perform data gathering research via internet
β’ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, incl. ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
β’ Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office β Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
β’ Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude; providing exemplary work ethic
β’ Ability to work independently with little to no supervision and be a self-starter is required.Β Strong and consistent follow-through on initiatives required.
β’ Must possess strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
