Data Scientist – AMI (Advanced Meter Infrastructure) Team Estimated Start Date: March 2026 Estimated Contract Duration: One year Work Location: Downtown Birmingham, AL or Downtown Atlanta, GA Schedule: Onsite Monday–Thursday, Remote on Fridays Overview This role supports the AMI (Advanced Meter Infrastructure) Data Scientist Team, which manages and curates data generated ultility/power meters. The position focuses on preparing highquality, wellstructured, and accurate datasets that enable the data scientists to build advanced analytical and machine learning solutions. This person will also support inhouse data projects, OpCo collaboration, and organizational initiatives tied to our client’s Leading as a System (LaaS) framework. Responsibilities • Perform data wrangling, exploration, and advanced data analysis to support data science and AMI initiatives. • Ensure meter data is accurate, complete, properly formatted, and sourced correctly for downstream data science workflows. • Build and maintain incremental datasets to support analytics and model development. • Develop statistical models, machine learning models, and perform bigdata processing as needed. • Create data visualizations to effectively communicate findings and trends. • Collaborate with AMI teams across OpCos as part of the LaaS organizational model, ensuring alignment on best practices, challenges, and process improvements. • Support AMI-related work for other OpCos, recognizing that not all operating companies have dedicated AMI teams. • Work closely with internal data scientists to ensure timely delivery of curated datasets and analytical outputs. Desired Qualifications • 5–10 years of experience in advanced analytics or data science. • Strong proficiency in the scientific method, hypothesis testing, and experimental design. • Expertise in statistics and at least one programming language (Python or R required). • Experience with machine learning algorithms, bigdata processing frameworks, and general model development. • Demonstrated ability to perform data wrangling, data quality validation, and exploratory data analysis. • Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, especially related to largescale sensor or meter datasets. • Ability to create compelling visualizations and communicate insights clearly. • Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams and operating companies.
