Role description
A leading healthcare organisation in Oxford is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to support a range of data-driven initiatives aimed at improving patient care, operational efficiency, and clinical decision-making.
This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful projects within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, including clinicians, analysts, and engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Develop predictive models to support clinical risk assessment and patient flow optimisation
β’ Analyse large-scale NHS datasets to uncover actionable insights
β’ Build and maintain data pipelines using Azure-based tools
β’ Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex data into clear, impactful recommendations
β’ Ensure compliance with healthcare data governance and IG protocols
β’ Support the development of dashboards and visualisations for operational reporting
Technical Skills Required:
β’ Strong proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib)
β’ Experience with SQL and relational databases
β’ Familiarity with Azure tools (Data Factory, Synapse, ML Studio)
β’ Knowledge of NHS datasets (HES, SUS, GPES)
β’ Understanding of clinical coding standards (ICD-10, SNOMED CT)
β’ Experience with Power BI or similar tools for data visualisation
β’ Awareness of data governance and information security in healthcare
Ideal Candidate Profile:
β’ Previous experience in a healthcare or public sector data science role
β’ Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience
β’ Comfortable working onsite in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
