Role description
Position Title: Data Scientist (Mid-Level) Location: (Winchester VA / Tyson VA / Pensacola FL / San Diego CA Clearance Requirements: None Position Status: Contract to Hire W2 Pay Rate: Competitive and commensurate with experience Position Description: We are seeking a motivated and analytical Data Scientist (3–7 years of experience) to join our growing Digital Data Science team. In this role, you will collaborate with senior data scientists, digital leaders, and business partners to design predictive models and data-driven solutions that enhance user experience and optimize business performance across our mobile and online platforms. You will work on projects that leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI to forecast trends, understand customer behavior, and improve digital engagement. A background or understanding of financial services or banking products is a plus, as many solutions focus on improving customers’ financial health and digital experience. (Overall Experience - 5- 10 Years ) Key Responsibilities: β€’ Partner with senior data scientists and business stakeholders to design, develop, and deploy predictive models and AI solutions that enhance digital offerings. β€’ Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and model training processes using Python, SQL, and modern data platforms. β€’ Apply a range of machine learning and statistical techniques (e.g., logistic regression, random forest, XGBoost, neural networks, NLP, clustering, time series forecasting). β€’ Translate complex data findings into actionable insights and business recommendations. β€’ Collaborate cross-functionally to gather requirements, define use cases, and ensure alignment with strategic goals. β€’ Communicate technical results clearly through visualizations, storytelling, and presentations. β€’ Work independently on assigned projects while actively contributing to team initiatives. Required Skills & Education: β€’ 3–7 years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, or applied statistics. β€’ Proficiency in Python, SQL, PySpark, or R for data preparation, modeling, and analysis. β€’ Hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning models for production or decision support. β€’ Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. β€’ Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Databricks, or Hadoop). β€’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences. β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. Preferred: β€’ Master’s degree in a related quantitative field. β€’ Familiarity with project management tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO) or JIRA. β€’ Experience with technical documentation and report writing.
