Role description
Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a Data Scientist I. The Data Scientist is a key member of the Toshiba Maintenance Services Engineering team, supporting our products, sales, global services, and leadership organizations with insights derived from customer Service Request (SR) data. This role also leads the exploration and management of Generative AI use cases that can enhance our service operations. The ideal candidate is passionate about applying AI models and data science techniques to generate actionable insights that improve operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and service innovation. Working within a collaborative environment, the Data Scientist partners with engineers, product managers, and maintenance service planners to extract, analyze, visualize, and communicate data-driven intelligence based on Toshiba Field Technicians’ and Client Advocates’ use of AI-powered platforms. Required Qualifications & Skills • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. • Strong experience using statistical analysis and modeling to evaluate AI platform usage and its impact on field performance. • Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as Python and SQL for manipulating and analyzing large data sets. • Demonstrated ability to use advanced statistical techniques (e.g., regression, statistical testing, distribution analysis) for applied data analysis. • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI to present complex findings clearly. • Understanding of AI/ML integration into ITIL-based Incident Management processes. • Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences. • Strong interest in learning about the retail technology landscape, including compliance, seasonality, and hardware service operations. Key Responsibilities • Data Research & Reporting • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data collection methods. • Review and provide quality feedback on custom-developed data models and algorithms applied to existing data sets. • Influence the roadmap for proprietary data collection agents, methodologies, and best practices. • Collaborate across internal teams to ensure consistency and integrity in all Maintenance Services data sources. • Gather Voice of Field (VOF) input from Toshiba Field Service Technicians and Customer Advocates to identify new AI-driven use cases that add business value. • Leadership & Client-Facing Responsibilities • Translate business requirements into functional, technical, and data-driven solutions. • Propose and design solutions that create measurable business value using available data assets. • Communicate insights, performance metrics, and solution effectiveness to Maintenance Service leadership. • Provide best practice guidance to internal stakeholders to drive adoption and optimize AI platform usage. Other Duties Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Working Relationships • The Data Scientist will collaborate closely with: • Engineering teams developing AI and analytics capabilities. • Product Managers and Service Planners driving data-driven decision-making. • Toshiba Field Technicians, Client Advocates, and Service Leadership stakeholders.
