Role description
Job Title: Senior Data Scientist
Location: Remote (U.S. only, based out of California)
Hourly Pay Rate: $55/hr W2 only
Contract Duration: 9 months (full-time, 40 hours per week)
Introduction
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist with deep expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and large-scale data analysis. This is a high-impact role supporting an advertising platform, where you will optimize ad targeting, improve auction performance, and deliver data-driven insights that directly influence business outcomes. The ideal candidate is technically strong in Python and SQL, has a strong product mindset, and thrives in cross-functional collaboration with engineers, product managers, and other data scientists.
Required Skills & Qualifications
β’ Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, or statistical modeling
β’ Strong proficiency in Python and SQL (advanced level required)
β’ Hands-on experience with big data tools and platforms (e.g., Spark, Airflow, AWS/GCP)
β’ Proven expertise in developing and deploying machine learning models and advanced analytics solutions
β’ Strong product sense and the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams
β’ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
β’ Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a W2 basis (no C2C or sponsorship)
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
β’ Experience with ML frameworks and libraries: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn
β’ Proficiency with data manipulation and analysis tools (Pandas, NumPy)
β’ Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau)
β’ Background in advertising, ad tech, or marketplace platforms
β’ Leadership experience mentoring or guiding junior data scientists
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop, and apply machine learning and statistical models to improve ad platform performance
β’ Analyze large-scale datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights
β’ Collaborate with engineers and product managers to translate business needs into technical data solutions
β’ Build models and methods to improve targeting, anomaly detection, prediction, and pattern recognition
β’ Deliver clear, data-driven recommendations to stakeholders across teams
β’ Stay up to date on advancements in ML, data science, and emerging technologies
β’ Mentor junior data scientists, contributing to team development and knowledge sharing
