Role description
Job Title: Data Scientist, Lifecycle Marketing Location: Hybrid onsite in San Francisco Hours: 40 hours/week Duration: 6+ month contract Compensation: $165/hr W2 Start Date: ASAP About the Role We are seeking a hands-on Data Scientist to lead lifecycle marketing analytics for both B2B and B2C users. This role is strategic and operational, focusing on data foundation, experimentation, and analysis to drive measurable growth. You will define user segmentation, build targeting models, establish data pipelines, manage A/B testing programs, and provide actionable insights to inform marketing strategy. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-growing, early-stage SaaS environment (0–1 stage), can operate independently, and communicates effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership. Key Responsibilities Data Foundation & Insights (40%) • Define segmentation for B2B and B2C users: onboarding, activation, retention, churn, resurrection, etc. • Build marketing programs and audience targeting strategies across free, Pro/Max, API, and churned users. • Align with marketing partners to define metrics, actions, and lifecycle strategy. • Establish data foundations to support ongoing lifecycle programs. Experimentation & Measurement (40%) • Design and implement A/B tests and experimentation roadmap. • Track results, analyze performance, and translate findings into actionable insights. • Develop propensity models (conversion prediction, churn prediction, optimal send timing). • Identify opportunities for automation, dashboards, and self-serve analytics. Analysis & Strategic Insight (20%) • Conduct deep-dive analyses to understand what's working and what isn't. • Inform strategy for next quarter based on insights from experiments and campaigns. • Provide recommendations on experiment prioritization, resource allocation, and campaign optimization. Leadership & Autonomy • Lead lifecycle marketing analytics for both B2B and B2C with minimal supervision. • Build strong cross-functional relationships across Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Data Science teams. • Communicate insights, frameworks, and recommendations clearly to leadership. • Proactively identify opportunities for optimization, automation, and growth. Must-Have Qualifications • 5–7+ years hands-on experience as a Data Scientist in lifecycle marketing. • Experience at fast-growing SaaS companies (B2B and B2C mix, ideally 0–1 stage). • Strong knowledge of experimentation design and machine learning. • Proven experience building lifecycle data and measurement programs from early experimentation to automated workflows. • Strong communication skills and ability to present actionable insights to cross-functional teams and leadership. • Strategic thinker capable of end-to-end lifecycle marketing roadmaps. • Experience with product-led growth motions and activation metrics. • Exceptional project management skills; able to balance multiple experiments, stakeholders, and timelines. Nice-to-Haves / Preferred Experience • Experience scaling lifecycle programs in early-stage SaaS companies. • Track record of driving statistically significant lifts in key business metrics (activation, retention, resurrection rates). • Experience with user journey analysis and segmentation frameworks. • Exposure to 0–1 stage product environments, where data foundations are being built from scratch. Signals of Excellence • Deep understanding of lifecycle marketing strategy beyond tactical campaign execution. • Ability to articulate clear frameworks for prioritizing experiments and measuring success. • Proactively identifies opportunities for testing, optimization, and automation based on user behavior. • Demonstrates examples of meaningful business impact through lifecycle campaigns. • Navigates technical complexity and platform constraints while maintaining strategic focus. Benefits: • This role is eligible to enroll in both Mondo's health insurance plan and retirement plan. Mondo defers to the applicable State or local law for paid sick leave eligibility.
