Primary Services is actively recruiting for a Data Scientist - Machine Learning to support a large, forward-thinking client in the energy sector. This role offers the opportunity to apply advanced data science techniques in a real-world business environment while contributing to a smarter, cleaner, digitally-enhanced energy ecosystem. You will work closely with business partners to develop models and dashboards that drive more profitable and informed decisions, all while growing your skills in a hands-on, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
• Process and manipulate large datasets using Python, PySpark, and Databricks.
• Develop predictive models, analytical tools, and dashboards to support business decision-making.
• Perform hands-on analytics and modeling while learning and applying data science methods.
• Translate insights into actionable recommendations for business partners.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to influence strategies and outcomes.
• Adhere to a culture of humility, curiosity, and impact in all analytics work.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• 0-3 years of experience in data analysis, machine learning, or a related field.
• Proficiency with statistical software and database languages.
• Preferred: experience applying data science to improve customer experience or business profitability.
• Preferred: PhD in a quantitative discipline.
• Familiarity with Python packages such as PySpark, NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost, Matplotlib, and lifelines.
• Knowledge of methods such as frequentist and Bayesian statistics, forecasting, optimization, causal inference, machine learning, and natural language processing.
• Experience with version control systems.
• Ability to work with cloud-based data storage and processing systems.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical insights to business stakeholders.
