Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join a pioneering new team of eight professionals focused on developing innovative products. This role offers the opportunity to work with large data sets and cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment.
Responsibilities
β’ Combine, interrogate, and manipulate large data sets using big data tools such as Hadoop and Spark.
β’ Utilise common programming languages, with a preference for Python, and employ various statistics and machine learning libraries like scikit-learn and PySpark.
β’ Understand and apply trade-offs between different machine learning model validation metrics, such as AUC and recall, to optimise model performance based on business needs.
β’ Communicate directly with business partners to translate statistical findings into actionable business insights.
β’ Utilise BI visualisation tools like Tableau, Domo, and Power BI.
β’ Optimise big data ETL pipelines to enhance efficiency and performance.
Essential Skills
β’ Demonstrated ability to work with big data tools, including Hadoop and Spark.
β’ Extensive experience with programming languages, especially Python.
β’ Proficiency in using machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn and PySpark.
β’ Strong understanding of machine learning model validation metrics.
β’ Knowledge of version control systems like Git.
β’ Effective communication skills to translate data insights into business strategies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
β’ Experience in deploying machine learning models to cloud-based production environments.
β’ Experience with Databricks.
β’ Experience with innovative applications of Generative AI in commercial settings.
β’ Background in the financial industry.
β’ Solid foundation in software engineering, with a focus on maintaining high code quality, effective version control, and rigorous testing practices.
