Contract – Outside IR35
Immediate Start
We are working closely with a global organisation within the energy sector on their strategy to drive a data culture. We are looking to connect with Data Scientists with a strong background within Data Analysis (Python, R, SQL), Machine Learning/NLP & GenAI systems, particularly within design, testing and/or modelling.
What you’ll do:
o Work as part of a cross-disciplinary team, closely with other data scientists, data engineers software engineers, data managers and business partners.
o Build scalable, re-usable, impactful data science products, usually containing statistical or machine learning algorithms, in collaboration with data engineers and software engineers.
o Carry out data analyses to yield actionable business insights.
o Adhere to and advocate for data science best practices (e.g. technical design, technical design review, unit testing, monitoring & alerting, checking in code, code review, documentation).
o Work closely with peers, stakeholders and senior management to present analysis, findings and results.
o Actively contribute to improve developer velocity.
What technical skills you’ll have:
o ML Modelling: Develop and evaluate statistical/ML models.
o Software Testing: Experience with testing methodologies and tools.
o Data Analysis: Proficient in data wrangling and analysis (Python, R, SQL).
o AI/ML: Experience designing and testing AI/ML models, including prompt engineering and bias detection.
o ML Systems: Design and implement ML systems; strong Python/SQL; software engineering best practices; Azure experience; excellent communication.
What essentials you’ll bring to the table:
o Postgraduate quantitative degree
o At least 2 years hands-on experience designing, planning, prototyping, productionizing, maintaining and documenting reliable and scalable data science products in complex environments.
o Applied knowledge as part of a team (if not leading) of data science tools and approaches across all data lifecycle stages.
o A comprehensive understanding of underlying mathematical foundations of statistics and machine learning.
o Strong development experience in one or more object-oriented programming languages (e.g. Python, Go, Java, C++)
o Intermediate SQL knowledge.
o Customer-centric and pragmatic mindset. Focus on value delivery and swift execution, while maintaining attention to detail.
o Very strong communication skills and the ability to break down and articulate complex tasks into strategies.
o Strong stakeholder management and ability to lead large organisations through influence.
o Comfortable taking a leading role within a team, mentoring others with demonstratable Role Model qualities.
o A passion for continuous learning and improvement.
What will make you stand out from the crowd:
o Doctorate within a quantitative field.
o Experience with big data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Hive, and Spark).
o Knowledge of experimental design and analysis is a plus.
o Energy industry experience, within a Trades and Market team.
