Primary Job Title: Data ScientistAlternate/Related Job Titles: • Machine Learning Engineer • Data Analytics Scientist • Applied Data Scientist Location: Framingham MAOnsite Flexibility: RemoteContract Details: • Position Type: Contract • Contract Duration: 12 months • Start: As Soon As Possible • Pay Rate: $70-$85/hr Job Summary:The Data Scientist supports a global merchandise operations environment, delivering advanced analytics, modeling, and machine learning solutions that enhance product placement, pricing, inventory optimization, and strategic decision-making. This role partners with engineering, product, and merchandising teams to provide actionable insights that improve business performance and help modernize enterprise retail systems.Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and statistical algorithms. • Analyze large structured and unstructured datasets to derive meaningful insights. • Build and run automated and ad-hoc reports to support strategic initiatives. • Collaborate with engineering, product, and merchandising teams to identify data opportunities and fulfill ad-hoc requests. • Create and maintain data pipelines and scalable analytical workflows. • Communicate complex technical results clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. • Conduct Time-Series, Sequential testing, and experimental designs to evaluate business and IT initiatives. • Provide guidance on technical approaches and best practices. Required Experience: • 5-10 years of experience in data analytics or a related field. • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Unix Shell Scripting (Lunex), and Stored Procedures. • Experience with ML frameworks and libraries (Pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, Matplotlib, Plotly). • ETL tool experience (Talend, DataStage, or MoveIT Automation preferred). • Experience with data warehouses (Snowflake or Oracle). • Experience with CI/CD pipelines. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Strong written and verbal communication skills for influencing across the organization. Nice-to-Have Experience: • Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field. • Prior use of advanced modeling techniques in real business applications. • CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub, Control-M). • Tableau or Power BI. • A/B testing and experimental design expertise. • Time-series modeling or recommendation systems. • Experience in data ingestion, transformation, and integration workflows.
