Role description
Job Title: Data Scientist
Job Location: Melvindale, MI (Minimum of 3 days required in the office: Tuesday-Thurs)
Duration: 1 year contract with extensions + opportunity to go perm
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Data Scientist to support business-critical reporting, analytics, and decision-making initiatives. This individual will work with large, complex datasets from multiple enterprise systems and create executive-level dashboards that drive strategic decisions across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Databricks, Power BI, SAP/Maximo data, data modeling, and dashboard development. This role requires someone who can not only analyze and visualize data but also validate data accuracy, explain methodologies, and present findings confidently to leadership teams.
Must Haves:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in related OR 3 years of experience working in a data analytical or computer programming function
β’ 2-3 years of experience working in data science, doing data work
β’ Experience working with large-scale and complex enterprise datasets
β’ Hands-on Databricks experience
β’ Experience with SAP or Maximo
β’ Strong SQL skills, must be able to write in SQL
β’ Strong experience performing advanced data analyses, including cost-benefit analysis, data bricks, forecasting, predictive modeling, what-if analysis, and impact analysis to support business decision-making
β’ Experienced taking data and setting it up visually. They need to know how to put together visually appealing visualization of the metrics and the data makes sense
β’ Building Power BI dashboard by scratch in power apps
β’ Consolidating multiple dashboards into one
β’ Experience presenting analytics directly to senior leadership.
Responsible for translating business requirements into analytical constructs and using data to propose solutions for effective decision making. Collects, validates, transforms, and cleanses data, as well as performs quantitative analysis to derive insights. Runs analytical experiments in a methodical manner and regularly evaluates alternative models and techniques. Develops predictive models to forecast business performance metrics and provides recommendations for strategic decisions. Responsible for teaching others the tools, techniques and best practices in self-service reporting, data analysis and predictive analytics.
β’ Performs in-depth analyses (e.g., cost-benefit, invest-divest, forecasting, predictive, what-if, impact analysis, etc.) to help the company focus on key decisions to improve safety, employee engagement, operational efficiency, product quality, and customer satisfaction
β’ Develops, modifies, and automates reports, builds and prototypes dashboards to provide insights, and provides analytical solutions
β’ Responsible for discovering insights from Big Data to help shape or meet specific business needs and goals.
β’ Develops and maintains analytical models through understanding data, evaluating technologies, optimizing algorithms, experimenting and validating models
β’ Delivers effective presentations that tell compelling stories about analytical insights
β’ Performs data cleansing and blending processes to produce analytic data sets for use by a variety of downstream purposes
β’ Implements new statistical, mathematical, machine learning or other methodologies for modeling or analysis
β’ Utilizes business knowledge to translate goals into data-based deliverables, such as predictive models, pattern detection analysis or optimization algorithms
β’ Trains and enables self-service reporting capability and use of Business Intelligence tools for supported business unit(s)
β’ Conducts research to identify relevant data for developing prototypes and proof-of-concepts
β’ Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs, formulate complete end-to end analyses that includes business requirements, data gathering, analysis, scaleable solutions, and presentations
$35/hr to $38/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
