Title: Data Scientist Job Type: Contract Contract Length: 6 months Pay Range: $75-80/hr Start Date: ASAP Location: Hybrid - Foster City, CA About The Opportunity Our client, a leader in Autonomous Vehicle Technology, is looking for a skilled Data Scientist to join their Perception Attributes team for a 6-month engagement. This project involves building and optimizing the data mining and validation frameworks that power their autonomous vehicle’s understanding of the world, specifically ensuring the highest quality data for detecting and classifying objects like cars, bikes, and pedestrians. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly. Key Responsibilities & Deliverables This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include: β€’ Owning a critical data mining link between raw sensor logs and the perception training pipelines. β€’ Establishing rigorous Quality Assurance (QA) processes for classified objects to ensure data quality and safety. β€’ Defining and owning Data Quality Objectives (DQOs) that accurately reflect the health and accuracy of perception datasets. β€’ Performing root cause analysis on data quality drops or edge-case failures and communicating learnings to the broader team. β€’ Collaborating with engineers across the organization who rely on mined data to improve vehicle autonomy. Required Skills & Experience: We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have: β€’ 2+ years of experience in a similar role. β€’ Deep expertise in: β€’ Strong proficiency in Python for data manipulation, scripting, and analysis. β€’ Advanced SQL skills for complex data extraction and mining from large-scale databases. β€’ Solid understanding of Machine Learning principles, specifically as they relate to object classification (cars, bikes, signs). β€’ Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals, prioritizing data quality and safety. β€’ Experience with statistical analysis for validating model performance against ground truth data (Bonus: experience with large-scale data orchestration and automated QA frameworks). β€’ Excellent communication skills to explain technical data trends to cross-functional stakeholders.
