Contract - Data Solution Architect Outside IR35 Rate Circa £600 per Day 6 Months + extensions likely Mainly remote - Hybrid in London initially Our client are looking for a Data/Solution Architect on a contract basis to play an instrumental part in a programme of work that will have a industry wide impact on the Rail Industry in the UK. The programme, aims to transform the rail industry's revenue allocation system through a suite of technology upgrades and methodological improvements. Key enhancements include migrating the platform to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), implementing a modern BigQuery-based Data Warehouse, and replacing the legacy solution for allocation factor calculation with an innovative, graph database-driven solution. Duties • Lead the design of data architectures and the development and optimisation of ETL/ELT pipelines to enable seamless integration of data from multiple sources, including raw datasets and outputs from GraphDB (NEO4J), hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). • Create and document technical solution designs, including detailed specifications. • Address complex technical challenges such as performance optimisation, data traceability, and managing large-scale data sets. • Oversee quality assurance across environment configuration, query development, data processing, staging tables, and related components. • Facilitate and lead technical meetings to advance data modelling techniques and validate outcomes. • Engage with Programme Architects to ensure solutions are aligned with organisational principles and receive appropriate stakeholder support. Skills And Experience • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in data architecture or related roles. • Proven ability to process large and complex datasets. • Proficient in a broad range of data analysis techniques and methodologies. • Experience designing and building data analysis tools/environments, including event-based scenario modelling systems. • Strong background in integrating data from multiple disparate sources. • Skilled at deriving business insights and translating complex data into accessible insights for non-technical stakeholders. • Extensive experience with data architecture and data systems. • Strong data modelling capabilities. • Demonstrated expertise in designing data-driven solutions. • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. • Familiarity with the rail industry is beneficial, but not essential. • Proficiency in data visualisation and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and AWS QuickSight. • Experience with AWS data platforms and services. • Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP). • Experience with GraphDB (NEO4J) is an advantage. • Familiarity with analytical shadowing is a plus.
