Role description
Data Strategy & Commercialisation Lead
£500 per day | 6-month contract (extensions likely)
Remote across UK or Europe | Inside IR35
At the heart of this role is data discovery — understanding what information trading firms truly value, structuring it into insight, and turning it into a scalable commercial offering.
You’ll start by diving deep into commodity trading data — pricing, logistics, flows, and contracts — working with internal teams and market experts to validate what’s valuable, what’s missing, and what can be built.
Then you’ll move from insight to execution: defining pricing models, developing go-to-market strategies, and ultimately leading commercial deals with some of the world’s most influential trading participants.
In the early phase, your focus will be:
• Validating the opportunity — identifying what data products the market needs.
• Collaborating with technical and product teams to refine and package datasets.
• Benchmarking competitors and defining market positioning.
• Engaging with data contributors to strengthen content and coverage.
As the data strategy evolves, you’ll shift toward:
• Designing monetisation and pricing models for data products.
• Building commercial relationships across the global trading ecosystem.
• Negotiating licensing and partnership deals.
• Presenting and promoting data propositions to clients and industry bodies.
What you’ll bring:
• Deep experience in data monetisation, product validation, and business development in commodities.
• Knowledge of agri, energy, or freight data and how trading firms use it for pricing and logistics.
• Strategic mindset with hands-on delivery skills — able to bridge data, technology, and sales.
• Strong communication and negotiation experience with senior external stakeholders.
You’ll be the connector — translating raw data into a valuable commercial product that reshapes how the industry trades, analyses, and collaborates.
If you want to combine your data strategy experience with commercial execution in a high-impact, global environment — this role will let you own that journey.
