Role: Data Steward Location: Montgomery, AL (Onsite from Day 1 ) Duration: 6 12 Months Contract (possible of extension) Interview Mode: Virtual Job Overview Client is urgently seeking a Data Steward to establish and mature data quality and governance capabilities in a green-field, low-maturity data environment. This role will play a critical part in enabling enterprise analytics, BI, and AI/ML readiness through hands-on work in SQL/ETL engineering, data validation, governance, and data architecture. Key Responsibilities • Perform data audits, profiling, validation, anomaly detection, and identify data quality gaps • Develop automated data quality rules using T-SQL, SQL Server, stored procedures, and indexing strategies • Build and maintain SSIS packages for data validation, cleansing, transformation, and error detection • Troubleshoot ETL/ELT pipelines, data migrations, and integration failures • Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term remediation solutions • Optimize SQL queries and improve overall data processing performance • Document audit findings, data flows, validation processes, and standards • Develop dashboards and reports for data quality KPIs using Power BI/Tableau Required Technical Skills • Strong expertise in T-SQL & SQL Server development (debugging & performance tuning) • Hands-on experience with SSIS (development & troubleshooting) • Data profiling, validation rule design, and quality measurement techniques • Experience in ETL/ELT pipeline design and optimization • Knowledge of data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) • Experience with metadata management and data lineage documentation • Reporting/dashboarding using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools • Strong documentation and communication skills Preferred Skills • Knowledge of DAMA-DMBoK, DCAM, MDM, and data governance frameworks • Experience working in green-field / low-maturity data environments • Exposure to AI/ML data readiness and feature-store concepts • Cloud experience with Azure, Databricks, or Google Cloud Platform Data Stewardship & Governance Responsibilities • Define and enforce data quality standards, business rules, and governance policies • Monitor data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance • Maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries, and metadata repositories • Ensure consistent data usage across departments • Collaborate with IT, data engineering, and business teams for governance initiatives • Provide training on data handling and stewardship best practices • Identify recurring data issues and recommend preventive solutions Environment & Impact • Work in a green-field environment to build data governance from scratch • Establish scalable data quality frameworks and validation layers • Transition processes from ad-hoc to automated and measurable systems • Drive enterprise-wide adoption of data governance practices • Support long-term data strategy and organizational data maturity Email- Phone Number : +1 321 7856 062 STELLENT IT A Nationally Recognized Minority Certified Enterprise "Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." • JK Rowling
