Data Strategy Consultant

Apex Systems is currently hiring for a Data Strategy/Architecture Lead with one of our large Banking clients. Location: Charlotte, NC Onsite expectation: 3 days onsite per week Pay range: 65-70/HR Note: We are unable to consider C2C or third-party submissions. Qualified candidates will have the following experience and skills: • 7+ years’ experience in Data Consulting, Data Project Management, or Data Architecture • Large Enterprise Experience • Excellent Execution Skills • Must be able to look/review the data and identify how they do things to ingest data. • Hadoop, Python, and/or SQL (Major Plus) Project Specifics: The manager is building out a Data Strategy team and seeks a lead to continue the foundational work she started—this includes a framework, committee, and process for reviewing and implementing data strategy initiatives. The role involves prioritizing data items identified across teams, aligning them with enterprise goals, and guiding them through a structured review and implementation workflow. Each Program Increment (PI) cycle includes selecting focus items, conducting research, and presenting findings to the Data Strategy Committee for assessment and execution planning. Items in the Data Strategy Queue may require collaboration with subject matter experts (e.g., Hadoop SME) to ensure readiness and completion. The committee has a secretary, while this Lead will serve as the Chairperson, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the manager who originally launched the program. Top Requirements: 1. Prev Banking Industry Experience Position Summary This role is responsible for leading efforts to develop and deliver complex data solutions to accomplish technology and business goals. Key responsibilities include code design and delivery tasks associated with the integration, cleaning, transformation, and control of data in operational and analytics data systems. They guide stakeholders, Product Owners, and Software Engineers through the design and execution processes. Provide technical thought leadership based on the significant experience they have built through implementing multiple complex data solutions, and their knowledge of the interaction across multiple data flows and systems. Role is accountable for Tableau\Power BI reporting visualization and analysis and may identify themes and trends at the function or product level. Gather requirements, design, development, testing and deployment of data sets and Tableau dashboards, SSRS Reports, and ad-hoc reporting Leverage advanced Tableau\Power BI capabilities (parameters, actions, tooltip, modifications, API etc.) to create analytical dashboards Understanding of relational database structures and business objectives to extract from various source databases, normalization of data, and automation of processes Write dataset builds in SQL or Hive in preparation for Tableau/Power BI Dashboard extracts and write calculations in SQL or Tableau based on advanced queries Proactively identify and interpret results in effort to communicate issues, risks, blockers to assignments and escalate areas of concern Fully accountable for integrity of the data produced for assigned projects Collaborate amongst team members to assist with knowledge gaps and or provide instructional training when needed. Assist other work groups in application development using python or writing advanced SQL queries when deemed necessary. Conduct research, designs prototyping and other exploration activities such as evaluating new toolsets. Utilize multiple architectural components in design and development of client requirements. Maintain, improve, clean and manipulate data for the operational and/or analytics data systems. Constantly looking for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution without being afraid of challenging the status quo. Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional/ nonfunctional requirements. Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, data quality controls, dependency and workload management. Define and build data pipelines that enable faster, better, data informed decision making within the business. Contribute to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause. Document and communicate required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality. Adhere to team delivery/release process and cadence pertaining to code deployment and release Identify gaps in data management standards adherence and work with appropriate partners to develop plans to close gaps.
