The Role
London Sport is looking for an individual for a 6-month period to lead the development and delivery of our data strategy and associated resources. The preference is a consultancy or contracted arrangement. The position would be for 16 working hours per week (0.46 FTE) on a hybrid working basis with a requirement for at least 1 day a week at the London Sport office. The hours can be worked flexibly within London Sports flexible working policy.
The role will be paid up to £16,100, dependant on experience, based on a FTE salary of £70,000.
The London Sport strategy is underpinned by data, insight and evidence and our work is applied from grass roots through to influencing and advocacy at policy level to address the inequalities experienced by minority and disadvantaged groups across the capital.
The role will be to support a period of transition as we develop our data strategy, data staff resource, and refocus our activities in our impact and innovation directorate to prioritise data led outputs. You will work closely with our Director of Impact and Innovation to achieve this.
The role will line manage our Lead for Data and Analytics, and Product Manager and have access to Delivery Manager and Officer resource as relevant.
Who you are:
· A senior leader with proven experience in designing and implementing data strategies and action plans that align with organisational goals, and influence improved strategy, policy and investment decisions. With the ability to translate strategy into actionable data initiatives and vice versa.
· Proven track record in leading complex and high-profile programmes of research and data collection, to create impact and value through influencing and advocacy.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in data management, analytics, and strategy.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey and present technical concepts and data-driven insights to non-technical stakeholders; across diverse, cross functional teams.
· Proficiency and experience in data analytics tools and languages such as SQL, Python, R, and familiarity with relevant frameworks. Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to communicate insights effectively.
· Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices and commitment to continuous professional development in data management and analytics.
· A knowledge of how to work with funders, local authorities, policy makers, charities and/or non-profit purpose driven organisations. Preferably with experience operating in the sports and physical activity sector.
· You can demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
What you’ll do:
· Lead the development of a London Sport Data strategy, in support of the London Sport strategy
· Create a roadmap for data collection and analysis that best contributes towards London Sport Outcomes
· Develop and implement data governance so that the quality, security and availability of London Sport’s data is compliant and enables effective decision making
· Evaluate and create plans for:
o The staffing and resourcing related to London Sport data strategy
o The product and service requirements related to London Sport data strategy
· Maintain our current data obligations for London Sport place-based work and internal data services; including interim line management of our Lead for Data and Analytics and Product Manager.
· Recommend/create opportunities for strategic data partnerships in support of the data, and London Sport strategies.
