Job Details: Position: Decision Support Specialist (Data Visualizer) C. Duties Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Environmental Science, Information Science, or other Information Technology major, or equivalent work experience. Required Tasks to be performed: • Develop visually appealing, intuitive, user friendly, and insightful Qlik Cloud dashboards and reports • Advise program areas on which visualizations and analyses would best help them achieve their goals • Collaborate with data engineers and others to gather and clean data from various sources, ensuring data integrity and quality • Use statistical methods and techniques to identify patterns, trends, correlations, and anomalies, and extract meaningful insights • Interpret results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to more complex statistical analysis • Work collaboratively with program areas to identify KPIs and develop metrics to track and measure progress toward goals • Collaborate with data engineers and others to optimize data collection, storage, and retrieval processes • Monitor data quality to identify data issues and propose data cleansing or enhancement solutions • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in data analysis, visualization, and reporting • Partner with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, scientists, and others to understand data needs, address technical challenges, and promote data-driven decision-making across the organization. • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff members and colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence in D&A practices. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): [Note: Proficiency levels are ranked from 1 -5, with 1 = beginner and 5 = expert.] • 5-10 years of experience in data visualization and analysis. (Proficiency level: 5) • Proficient in gathering and cleaning data from various sources. (Proficiency level: 5) • Familiar with statistical methods and techniques to identify patterns, trends, correlations, and anomalies. (Proficiency level: 5) • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate program requirements into technical solutions and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. (Proficiency level: 5) • Good oral (presenting and public speaking) and written (documentation, briefing reports, correspondence, PowerPoint presentations, etc.) communication skills. (Proficiency level: 4) • Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments. (Proficiency level: 5) Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): • 5-10 years of experience with Qlik Sense or Qlik Cloud • Experience with Alteryx. • Experience with Oracle SQL Developer, TOAD, or similar data tools. • 5+ years of experience with environmental data (science, water quality, or related fields.
