Role description
The successful candidate will be a key member of the DPTM Operations team, focused on supporting initiatives that optimize and automate business operations and processes (non-scientific data management). The primary responsibility of the role is to develop tools, metrics, and analytics to monitor sourcing, equipment management, and discovery resource utilization (chemicals, reagents) to increase productivity with automated tools, consolidate data, and leverage predictive data insights. Additionally, this role will enhance our dashboard capabilities using Power BI, Power Apps, or custom tools to enable interactive visualizations, models, and simulations that effectively facilitate the exploration of our organizational health and operational metrics. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated team of data, scientific, and operational experts on additional projects and deliverables as they grow and develop in the role. Key Responsibilities β€’ Dashboard & Visualization Development: o Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards using PowerBI, Power App or custom tools to track key performance indicators for lab usage, organizational health, and other operational metrics. o Develop frameworks and simulation tools that allow stakeholders to import, explore and interact with data insights. o Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure visualizations meet business requirements and are aligned with strategic objectives. β€’ Tool & Framework Development: o Develop and deploy scalable tools for data capture, integration, and reporting that support broader operations projects. o Extend/implement existing KPI automatic tools in other functional areas o Optimize SQL queries and develop data pipelines to maintain high-quality, accessible data sources for dashboarding and tool development. o Create reusable analytical frameworks that streamline the process of converting raw operational data into actionable insights. β€’ Application Development: o Build tactical applications that simplify and automate data processing tasks. β€’ Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: o Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify data challenges and deliver practical, user-friendly solutions that improve operational efficiency and policy compliance. o Stay abreast of emerging trends in data science and visualization technologies to continuously enhance our digital toolset. o Support additional projects and deliverables as your role evolves and you grow within the team. Scope of Work: β€’ Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Automation tool o Support ongoing process using Power Apps – generate/revise surveys, fix issues, and maintenance, o To build KPI process for QB (In vitro and In vivo) by 3Q2026 – create surveys for specific services and build auto-generation of slides o To develop dashboard for holistic view of performance of partners for multiple functional areas by 4Q2026 - 1Q2027 o Provide support for issues and maintenance for all ongoing KPI processes for all areas and train sourcing operations group β€’ Power BI o Currently used for Chemistry KPI data for dashboard/visual for all partners and 2017-current. Need support for revision, issues, and routine maintenance o Build Power BI dashboard for QB (in vitro and in vivo) and DMPK – with historical data needs captured back to 2017 o Provide support for issues and maintenance and train sourcing operations group Qualifications β€’ Education: Minimum requirement of a bachelor’s (or int’l equivalent) degree in computer science, biology, chemistry, or a related field. β€’ Experience: Min. 5years of relevant experience. Required Skills: o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to work independently. o Ability to understand and refine requirements defined by scientific and operational subject-matter experts (SMEs) o Proficient in Python programming, with experience in building DASH applications. o Proficient in Anthropic's Claude OPUS LLM. o Experience with AWS or other cloud-computing platforms o Experience with GIT, Confluence, and good documentation practices o Strong SQL skills for data manipulation and analysis. o Experience with PowerBI and other Power Platform tools (familiarity with alternative dashboard applications is acceptable). o Experience with Pipeline Pilot or other data pipeline tools. o Proficient in Python, C#/.NET, JavaScript languages, with experience in building DASH applications. Additional Skills: o Experience with Appian. o Experience with other AI models (such as OpenAI) o Knowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques is a plus. o Familiarity with data platforms such as Dataiku and Dataverse is a plus. o Experience with operational data in bus settings is advantageous. o Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) is a plus. Job Requirements Summary β€’ Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field. β€’ 5+ years of relevant experience developing analytics, dashboards, and operational reporting/automation solutions. β€’ Advanced skills in Power BI and the Power Platform (Power Apps); experience with alternative dashboard tools is acceptable. β€’ Strong SQL for data manipulation and analysis; ability to optimize queries and support high-quality data sources. β€’ Proficiency in Python (including building Dash applications); familiarity with C#/.NET and JavaScript is preferred. β€’ Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and data pipeline tools (e.g., Pipeline Pilot). β€’ Strong requirements-gathering skills with scientific/operational SMEs, plus good documentation practices (Git, Confluence). β€’ Nice to have: Appian; NLP familiarity; Dataiku/Dataverse exposure; operational data experience; Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) awareness.
