Data Warehouse Engineer
Location: Austin, Texas (Onsite)
Role Overview
This position involves planning, developing, maintaining, and monitoring integrated database systems. The role requires ensuring new applications are consistent with the database environment's structural parameters. The successful candidate will work under limited supervision, utilizing experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the installation of database software and test migrations to ensure data reliability and functionality.
• Analyze, design, modify, and maintain database structures.
• Perform logical and physical data modeling, design relational database models, and create physical models from logical models.
• Design and implement procedures for database backup, recovery, and security.
• Establish and implement database security controls and user access levels.
• Monitor database performance, implement efficiency improvements, and conduct performance tuning.
• Evaluate and recommend database software packages for potential acquisition.
• Develop and maintain database documentation, procedures, and definitions for data dictionaries.
• Assist in developing standards, guidelines, and policies to ensure the integrity of the database environment.
• Ensure user interfaces for database administration and data interaction are compliant with accessibility standards.
Required Qualifications
• 5 years of experience with database management systems, data warehouse management, and decision support tools.
• 5 years of experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of data warehouses and data marts.
• 5 years of experience with business objects and building data dictionaries.
• 5 years of experience with data warehouse implementation processes, including logical modeling, physical design, data transformation, and SQL.
• 5 years of experience with GUI-based ETL tools such as Informatica or IBM WebSphere DataStage.
• 5 years of experience with enterprise-class databases (e.g., Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server).
• 5 years of experience with analytical and reporting tools (e.g., Business Objects, Cognos, Hyperion, MicroStrategy).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with technical and non-technical groups and manage multiple responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
• 5 years of experience with Oracle Database.
• 5 years of experience with SSRS report creation.
• 1 year of experience with M204 database.
