Role description
Job Summary: This position offers the opportunity to serve as a technical expert and solution provider within a mission-critical operational technology environment supporting essential energy infrastructure. Working closely with application support teams, you will ensure the reliability, performance, and availability of enterprise database systems that power distribution, transmission, nuclear operations, and other regulated applications. As a diagnostician and strategic partner, you will influence architecture decisions, enable data-driven insights, and maintain the integrity of systems that keep communities powered and safe. Responsibilities: • Administer and support enterprise database platforms including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL • Perform database backup and recovery operations, performance tuning, patching, upgrades, and new builds • Support business continuity planning and implement high availability solutions • Serve as a subject matter expert for database-related architecture and design decisions • Partner with application and analytics teams to integrate data across platforms and enable advanced analytics • Participate in on-call rotation to provide production environment support • Develop and maintain automation scripts using T-SQL, PL/SQL, Shell, and PowerShell • Drive adoption of standard tools and best practices for data integrity and governance • Provide consultation on data aspects of new and evolving IT solutions Skills: • SQL Server database administration including backup and recovery, performance tuning, and business continuity • Oracle database administration including backup and recovery, performance tuning, and business continuity • Strong communication abilities with technical and business audiences • Collaboration and relationship management • Problem-solving and analytical thinking • Data governance capabilities • Distributed computing • Data architecture and structure • Data visualization • Statistical and predictive modeling • Reporting and business intelligence solution design and delivery • Ability to identify and recommend data and BI solutions aligned with business needs Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Science, Business, or related field, OR 8+ years of equivalent professional experience This is an exceptional opportunity to make a tangible impact on critical energy infrastructure while working with cutting-edge database technologies across multiple platforms.
