Responsibilities
Support multiple SQL Server databases on Azure and Windows
Perform software installation, database creation, support, and administration of SQL Server databases
Collaborate with multiple business units and provide resolution for complex problems across project teams
Evaluate and research new database features and technologies
Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation supporting a large SQL environment
Monitor and optimize performance issues at the application and database level
Plan, design, implement, enhance, and maintain complex databases, access methods, database security, and audit and regulatory requirements
Manage and support various backup and recovery strategies
Monitor and tune database performance
Perform SQL database upgrades and patching
Automate routine DBA tasks using PowerShell scripting
Manage availability groups, replication, and standby configurations
Migrate on-prem SQL databases to Azure
Work independently and as part of a team to perform SQL administration tasks
Qualifications
5–7 years of experience as a SQL DBA applying principles, practices, and procedures to all aspects of SQL database support
Enterprise-level SQL Server database administration experience on Windows operating systems, including data migration, data replication, user administration, and database backup and recovery
Solid understanding of SQL Server internal architecture
Hands-on experience with SQL database installation, upgrades, and migrations
SQL Server administration experience with version 2012 and above
Experience managing backup and recovery strategies
Experience monitoring and tuning database performance
Experience upgrading and patching SQL databases
PowerShell scripting experience to automate DBA tasks
Experience managing availability groups, replication, and standby configurations
Experience migrating on-prem SQL databases to Azure
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to lead, collaborate, or work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams
Minimum of 5+ years of directly related experience
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
Preference for prior experience in a regulated industry
