About Oaye Luta Okolakiciye
Oaye Luta Okolaciciye (OLO) is a Lakota-led non-profit community health center that provides Lakota culturally centered health services within Rapid City. OLO promotes healing by providing Lakota cultural, community-based approaches to alcohol use (prevention, intervention, and continuum of care) and holistic well-being. OLOβs success comes from its deep understanding of and commitment to responding to peopleβs needs and the barriers that prevent them from meeting those needs.
Job OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Database Developer to join our dynamic team. The person in this position would be responsible for the development, implementation, testing, and maintenance of an electronic health records and services database and billing system in Microsoft Access utilized within Oaye Luta Okolakiciye. This includes working with the service provision team to understand health data structures specific to OLOβs service provision, developing a database schema, implementing data validation, ensuring security, integrating the EHR with other OLO systems including the OLO website, providing support to OLO service providers, and creating data dashboards and reports.
Responsibilities
Design and develop database architectures to support application development and data management needs.
Write complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data efficiently.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Maintain and optimize existing databases for performance and reliability.
Conduct thorough testing of database systems to ensure functionality and performance standards are met.
Document database designs, processes, and procedures for future reference.
Complete projects on time exceeding quality standards.
Maintain sobriety and professional attitude and practice throughout employment.
Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of best practices to team members.
Cultivate healthy and strong working relationships with team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
Proficiency working with Microsoft Access.
Proficiency in SQL for database querying and management.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to vaticinate potential issues before they arise.
Ability to work effectively in an Agile development environment.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1+ years programming in Microsoft Access
Minimum of 1+ years of experience working with database programming, development, engineering, implementation, and/or management
Minimum of 1+ years working with or in small community start-ups or nonprofits and/or community health organizations preferred
Knowledge of SQL
Familiarity with Lakota culture preferred
Knowledge of HTML for building websites
Maintain sobriety throughout employment
Must be highly organized with a strong attention to detail
Excellent time and project management skills
Strong work ethic, achievement oriented and ethical
Self-starter, highly motivated individual with positive attitude
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Experience in technical systems support roles
