Senior Database Engineer (Data Security Team)
Location: Chicago, IL
Job Type: W2 Contract
Schedule: Hybrid
Pay Rate: Starting at $70/hourly with optional benefits packages including PTO, medical insurance, and 401k
Role Overview
The Senior Database Engineer will:
β’ Lead and execute exceptional solutions for business and application customers.
β’ Operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
β’ Serve as a subject matter expert in Database Administration and Data Security.
β’ Assess current environments for gaps and lead hands-on implementations.
β’ Guide internal customer solutions through IT requirements, ITIL standards, and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
β’ Plan, coordinate, analyze, and design technical solutions or enhancements.
β’ Apply 360-degree security analysis to pre-flight and in-flight projects.
β’ Contribute to technical standards, infrastructure strategy, security policy, SLAs, and infrastructure processes.
Skills
β’ Minimum 5 years of enterprise-level database administration experience.
β’ At least 10 years of industry experience.
β’ Proven experience with relational database systems and applications.
β’ Familiarity with external user functions, internal system services, and file system structures.
β’ Skilled in installing and configuring RDBMS software.
β’ Ability to track and report on database capacity, utilization, growth, and health.
β’ Proficient in database design and programming (views, triggers, stored procedures).
β’ Strong knowledge of database security protocols.
β’ Capable of communicating complex technical issues and risks to management.
β’ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
β’ Deep technical and architectural experience in IT Security and commercial systems.
β’ Strong understanding of security best practices and standards.
β’ Ability to document and articulate technical designs clearly.
β’ Experience collaborating with development teams to build secure solutions.
β’ Familiarity with common vulnerabilities and attack vectors.
Education & Certifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree.
β’ Experience as a senior technical resource in a security-focused organization.
β’ Database Administration certifications.
