Database Engineer

CSI Companies is seeking an experienced Database Engineer to support product engineering initiatives focused on scalable and high performance data systems. This role focuses on SQL Server and Azure cloud technologies while operating within an AI driven software development lifecycle. This opportunity is ideal for a database professional who enjoys working in fast paced environments building modern cloud based data solutions and leveraging AI tools to improve development efficiency and performance. You will collaborate with engineering teams to design optimize and maintain database systems that support enterprise applications and product features. Hours: Standard business hours Location: West Los Angeles California Pay: $47–57/hr Position Type: Direct Hire Work Authorization Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. No sponsorship and no corp to corp arrangements are available. What you will do • Design implement and optimize SQL Server databases for high availability scalability and performance • Lead and support Azure migration efforts for legacy databases and data services • Develop and maintain cloud native data solutions using Azure SQL Azure Data Factory Cosmos and related Azure services • Collaborate with AI copilots to convert stakeholder requirements into structured data models and specifications • Utilize generative AI tools to improve database architectures and performance strategies • Pair program with AI assistants such as GitHub Copilot and similar tools to write refactor and validate SQL code • Implement tools supporting automated validation bug prediction and self healing data pipelines • Collaborate with application engineering teams to ensure seamless integration between backend data systems and product features • Monitor troubleshoot and optimize database performance security and compliance • Contribute to AI enabled software development lifecycle practices and continuous improvement initiatives What we are looking for • 6 or more years of experience in database engineering with a strong focus on SQL Server • Strong understanding of database design indexing query optimization and stored procedures • Strong experience with database modeling using third normal form principles • 3 to 5 years of experience with NoSQL technologies such as Cosmos • Strong knowledge of SQL Internals within Azure SQL Database Hyperscale • Strong experience optimizing database queries stored procedures and database performance • Experience monitoring performance from both system and database perspectives • Experience using SQL Server tracing and performance analysis tools • Proven experience with Azure SQL Azure Data Factory and cloud native data architectures • Expertise reviewing stored procedure performance reading execution plans and implementing optimizations • Experience designing and writing high performance SQL queries and table structures • Familiarity with AI code assistants such as GitHub Copilot or similar tools • Strong communication and problem solving skills • Ability to meet the location requirement in West Los Angeles California Nice to have • Experience with distributed databases • Experience with ELT tools • Experience with data stream processing technologies • Experience working in product engineering environments • Experience with AI assisted software development practices Who Should Apply This role is ideal for a database engineer who enjoys building scalable cloud data solutions leveraging modern AI tools and solving complex performance and architecture challenges.
