Database Modeling Engineer – Power Systems (GSW – Database Modelling)
Location: Melbourne, FL 32904 or Bellevue, WA 98004 (Preferred On-site, Open to Remote)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Database Modeling Engineer to join our Power Systems and Energy Solutions team. In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize data models that support both operational and analytical systems used by utilities and grid management operations.
You’ll collaborate with engineering, software, and business teams to translate complex requirements into scalable database architectures that drive real-time performance and reliability across our energy management and SCADA platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for operational and analytical applications.
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into efficient data structures.
Perform data profiling and quality analysis to identify and resolve data integrity issues.
Implement best practices in data normalization, denormalization, and indexing strategies for performance optimization.
Lead data architecture discussions, presenting solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Evaluate emerging data modeling tools and methodologies to enhance productivity.
Mentor junior data modelers and contribute to team-wide knowledge sharing.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, or database design.
Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
Hands-on experience with data modeling tools such as Erwin, IBM InfoSphere Data Architect, or equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex data concepts clearly and effectively.
Proven experience developing and maintaining scalable models for enterprise systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with exposure to Power Systems.
Familiarity with Power On Reliance, XA21, EMS, or related energy management systems.
Experience working in large-scale utility or energy industry environments.
