Job Title: Databricks Architect
Location: Redmond, WA
Contract length: Long Term
Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Databricks Architect who can design, build, and govern scalable data platforms. This role requires deep hands on experience with Databricks, strong data architecture skills, and the ability to decompose complex source systems into well designed analytical layers using medallion architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement end to end data architecture on Databricks using bronze, silver, and gold layers
Decompose complex source systems and translate them into scalable and maintainable data models
Define and enforce medallion architecture standards, data quality rules, and design patterns
Implement and manage Unity Catalog for data governance, security, lineage, and access control
Build and review Databricks notebooks using best practices for readability, reuse, and performance
Enable data integration and data flow across multiple boundary systems and platforms
Lead performance tuning efforts including cluster configuration, query optimization, partitioning, and caching strategies
Provide architectural guidance on Databricks nuances such as job orchestration, Delta Lake optimization, and cost management
Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and business teams to align architecture with use cases
Mentor engineers and review designs, code, and implementation approaches
Required Qualifications
Strong hands on experience with Databricks in production environments
Proven experience designing and implementing medallion architecture
Deep understanding of Unity Catalog and enterprise data governance concepts
Expertise in building Databricks notebooks using Python, SQL, or Scala
Experience integrating data across multiple source and target systems
Strong performance tuning and troubleshooting skills on Databricks
Solid understanding of Delta Lake internals and best practices
Nice to Have
Databricks certification
Experience with large scale enterprise data platforms and cloud data architectures
